Elliot Eisenberg

Chief Economist for GraphsandLaughs, LLC Elliot Eisenberg, Ph.D. is an internationally acclaimed economist and public speaker specializing in making the arcana and minutia of economics fun, relevant and educational. Eisenberg, a former Senior Economist with the National Association of Home Builders in Washington, D.C., is the creator of the multifamily stock index (the first nationally recognized index to track the total return of public firms principally involved in the ownership and management of apartments), the author of more than eighty-five articles, serves on the Expert Advisory Board of Mortgage Market Guide and is a regular consultant to several large real estate professional associations, hedge funds and investment advisory groups.

 

Josh Brown

Executive Director, Puget Sound Regional Council As executive director for the Puget Sound Regional Council, Josh Brown works to support a thriving central Puget Sound region through planning for growth, transportation, and economic development. Prior to PSRC, Josh served as Kitsap county commissioner, PSRC president, and worked as a commercial real estate broker. Josh holds a degree focused on city and regional planning from UC Berkeley.

Washington state’s economy fully re-opened on June 30, but businesses continue to be impacted by the ongoing pandemic. A new tool can help businesses see which health protocols such as employee vaccination, cleanliness measures, and safety certification are likely to increase consumer confidence and foot traffic in customer-facing industries, like restaurants, retail, and personal services.

About the Smart WA Decision Tool

The SmartWA tool uses data and artificial intelligence to provide small businesses most impacted by the pandemic with real-time outlooks about public health, economic and community conditions by county and industry. The tool is currently available in English, Spanish, Tagalog, Simplified Chinese, Vietnamese, and French.

The Washington State Department of Commerce launched the SmartWA tool, which was developed by Restart Partners and its partners ChoiceFlows and Tanjo.ai. The state Departments of Health and Labor & Industries also contributed to its development.
