Local companies have committed hundreds of millions of dollars to provide affordable housing options to our communities. Local governments will need to respond with code and comp plan changes in order to incentivize the private sector to meet this need and respond to this opportunity. An effective solution will reduce transportation pressure, enrich our communities’ fabrics, and ensure an available workforce.
Background and Current Efforts
Prior to OneEastside, OneRedmond launched a Workforce Housing Working Group with public and private sector partners in 2019 to work together as a community to understand and address workforce housing needs. This work provided a foundation for OneEastside’s affordable housing initiative.
OneEastside’s current efforts include tracking local and regional developments and engaging with public and private sector partners to support affordable housing solutions for our communities.
