Meet staff from the Washington Center for Women in Business and learn about the resources and support available to businesses at every stage through the WCWB and the Center for Business & Innovation.

Let’s Talk Business: An Introduction to Debt and Credit Terminology for Entrepreneurs

Many entrepreneurs launch into a new business enterprise without a solid foundation of the legal language around debt and credit. This workshop will focus on giving the small business owner a better understanding of business loan terminology such as secured and unsecured debt, collateral, personal guarantee, and “joint and several” liability.

Meet the Presenter

Deirdre Glynn Levin is the principal of DGL Law, PLLC. Her practice consists of commercial and business law with significant experience developing thoughtful, pragmatic solutions to the legal issues, including debt and credit issues, faced by business clients. She counsels growing and established companies on governance, corporate structure (including dissolution), contract negotiation, dispute resolution, drafting and enforcement. Deirdre advises businesses on establishing systems for risk management, minimizing uncollectable accounts, and negotiating improvements to contract compliance in a complex regulatory environment.

Ms. Glynn Levin previously served as a career law clerk for federal bankruptcy judges in Seattle, Tacoma, and San Francisco. She has had the unique opportunity to serve simultaneously as bankruptcy and appellate law clerk to the Hon. Philip H. Brandt during his term on the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Western District of Washington.

Deirdre served for six years as a Hearing Officer for the Washington State Bar Association, served on the Executive Board of the WSBA Debtor-Creditor Section, and Chair of the Communications Committee of the WSBA Business Law Section.

Celebrating Dreams

The Washington Women’s Business Center (WWBC) is committed to supporting women business owners as they carry on in these uncertain economic times.

Celebrating Dreams, the WWBC Premier Event, is an opportunity to connect with other female entrepreneurs, mentors, community partners, resources, and leaders in the field. The event kicks off in May and ends in June – all while celebrating female entrepreneurship.

Celebrating Dreams starts with an online showcase of Woman-Owned businesses that display their products and services all in one place from May 1st – June 30th, 2021. 

We will also be hosting free webinars every Thursday in May leading up to the main event!

The event culminates with a free evening of celebration, connection, and opportunities for Women in business. This year, some of our panels for the night include, “Recovery Ready Case Studies” and “The Economic Value of Woman-Owned Businesses”

Celebrating Dreams: Strength in CommUNITY 2021 will be held live virtually on May 27th from 6:00 – 7:30PM PST.
